Places of interest in the Venosta Valley
Culture, history and nature in one place
Don't miss the opportunity to get to know our culture and history during your holiday in Val Venosta. Here, around the Schmiedhof in Slingia, you will find numerous contemporary testimonies of past eras......castles, monasteries and medieval towns.
We will be happy to show you some of our cultural attractions in the Upper Venosta Valley.
Abbey of Monte Maria
The Benedictine monastery of Monte Maria is a very special place. A place to recharge your batteries and find yourself. If you cross the Venosta Valley, you can already see it from far away. It is located a little above Burgusio and is still today the residence of the monks. A particular attraction of the Benedictines and the Abbey, which is the highest in Europe, are the frescoes in the Romanesque crypt, which you must not miss during your holiday at the Schmiedhof.
Chur Castle
Chur Castle, in Sluderno, is for many associated with the knightly games that have been taking place in the village for many years now and that always attract many guests from near and far. But with its armours room and its fairytale arcades it is also one of the best-preserved castles in South Tyrol. The castle can be easily reached by train from Malles.
City of Glorenza
City of Glorenza
The medieval town of Glorenza with its 900 inhabitants is the smallest town in South Tyrol. But that doesn't mean that it has nothing to offer. On the contrary. With its charming arcades, stately palaces, towers and majestic churches, it is a unique jewel. Especially the Advent market, which always takes place at the beginning of December, is the last attraction of the year in the Upper Venosta Valley.
